Zrenjanin: A new home for 25 refugee families

In Zrenjanin, the keys to 25 apartments built under the Regional Housing Program were handed over. The apartments are intended for refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

The total gross area of the building is 1,665.00 m2, and the value of the works is 863,878 euros.

The ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Zrenjanin, Simo Salapura, the representative of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Gerhard Salzer, the representative of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Sufian Adjali, the Director of the Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit, Dušan Kovačević, and the Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Nataša Stanisavljević.

The Regional Housing Programme is a joint multi-year programme of the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Croatia, which aims to provide durable housing solutions for the most vulnerable refugee families in the region.

It is implemented with the support of the OSCE, UNHCR and the Council of Europe Development Bank, and is financed by the European Union, which is also the largest donor, the United States, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
