Regional Housing Program – Keys to 25 apartments handed over to Čačak

The apartments were built within the ninth sub-project of the Regional Housing Program and are intended for refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

"You have been waiting for this moment for a long time, but I can proudly point out that as of today you have your home in Čačak and that you have solved one of the most important life issues, the housing issue. We are at the very end of the project implementation and when it comes to the component of apartment construction, we are expecting to move in for another 444 beneficiary families in Novi Sad, Vrnjačka Banja, Arandjelovac, Vrbas, Belgrade, Ovča, Pećinci and Pančevo," said the Director of the Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit, Dušan Kovačević.

The value of the construction of apartments with a total gross area of 1,622 m2 is about 842,022 euros.

The Regional Housing Programme is a joint multi-year programme of the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Croatia, which aims to provide durable housing solutions for the most vulnerable refugee families in the region.

It is implemented with the support of the OSCE, UNHCR and the Council of Europe Development Bank, and is financed by the European Union, which is also the largest donor, the USA, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
