Today, 21 refugee families in Ub received a contract for the purchase of an apartment under the Regional Housing Program.
The apartments were purchased as part of the seventh sub-project of this program. Financial resources for the purchase of apartments are provided from the donor Fund of the Regional Housing Program, in which the largest donor is the European Union.
The event in Ub was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Chairman of the Commission for the Coordination of the Process of Permanent Integration of Refugees, Nikola Selaković, the President of the Municipality of Ub, Darko Glišić, the Head of the Ector for Cooperation of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia, Nikola Bertolini, the Head of the UNHCR Representative Office in Serbia, Francesca Bonelli, the Director of the Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit, Dušan Kovačević, and the Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Vladimir Cucić.
Director of the Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit, Dušan Kovačević, pointed out that the Republic of Serbia is making progress in the implementation of the Regional Housing Program and that it will continue to do everything to ensure that the most vulnerable refugee families are taken care of.
The Regional Housing Programme is a joint multi-year programme of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Croatia, which aims to provide durable housing solutions for the most vulnerable refugee families in the region.
It is implemented with the support of the OSCE and UNHCR and is funded by the European Union, the United States, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
