Natural History Center Svilaijnac

The funds for the construction of the Natural History Center in Svilajnac were secured through a loan from the European Investment Bank. The funds covered the design and construction project, the execution of construction works, as well as the procurement of exhibits and equipment. The total investment value is 7,774,052 euros, with 6,257,379 euros from the loan and 1,516,673 euros from the contribution of the Republic of Serbia. The Public Enterprise, as the implementing unit, conducted professional supervision and managed the project, including preparing, publishing, and evaluating tenders and awarding contracts; coordinating activities and providing administrative support to project teams in implementing the project; and managing the payment process. 

The building of the Natural History Center in Svilajnac has a gross area of 3,166 square meters. The Natural History Center of Serbia in Svilajnac combines science, education, entertainment, and tourism in one place, making it unique in this part of Europe. It showcases the evolutionary development of planet Earth and volcanoes, the prehistoric aquatic world, the biosphere of our planet, mammalian life, and the paleontological treasures of Serbia.

The facility contains several functional blocks, namely:
- Scientific research block, which contains workshops - laboratories for research by visiting experts, students, high school students or primary school students.
- Educational and exhibition block, which contains exhibition space with exhibits from different periods of the development of the planet Earth.
- Commercial block with service facilities

The center is unique in the region for its exceptional collection of dinosaur replicas and skeletons and other contents.

The construction of the center is very important for the popularization of science in the Republic of Serbia.
