Handed over the keys to the apartments of the refugee families in Arilje

The keys to eight apartments were handed over to refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia residing in the territory of the municipality in Arilje today.

The apartments were built as part of the eighth Regional Housing Program in the Republic of Serbia, and the funds were provided from the Donor Fund of the Regional Housing Program, whose largest donor is the EU, while the land and infrastructure were provided by the Municipality of Arilje.

The construction of apartments with a total gross area of 480 square meters began in May 2020 and was completed in April 2021, with the use permit obtained on December 27, 2021. The total value of the works is 200,732 euros.

The ceremony was attended by the State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nemanja Starović, the President of the Municipality of Arilje Predrag Maslar, the Head of the Office of the Director of the Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit Ltd. Belgrade Jovan Lazarov and the Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Vladimir Cucić.

I congratulate you on moving in and wish you to spend the most beautiful moments with your loved ones in your warm home in the years to come," said Jovan Lazarov, Head of the Office of the Director of the Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit.

The Regional Housing Programme is a joint multi-year programme of the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and the Republic of Croatia, which aims to provide durable housing solutions for the most vulnerable refugee families in the region.

The programme is supported by the OSCE, UNHCR and the Council of Europe Development Bank, and is funded by the EU, which is also the largest donor, the USA, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.
