Schools Modernisation Programme

The promoter of the School Modernization Program is the Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technological Development), while the PIU is the implementing unit of the Program. So far, 164 schools have been renovated and 81 school facilities have been equipped. Within the Unified Education Information System, 1,759 schools have been equipped.

The total value of the project is 100 million euros. The program is financed by a loan from the European Investment Bank, covering up to 50% of the total project value, while the remaining 50% is financed by the Republic of Serbia and local governments through infrastructure investments.
The aim of the project School Modernization Program is to improve the quality of working conditions of students in the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

At the initiative of the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, in 2021 the School Modernization Program was extended to include Regional Training Centers for Dual Education in Subotica, Vlasotince, Valjevo, and Šabac (reconstruction and equipping of facilities), as well as the reconstruction of the Aviation School in Belgrade and the Technical School in Stara Pazova. These projects are financed from savings achieved within the School Modernization Program. The Technical School in Požega was reconstructed using funds from the budget of the Republic of Serbia and will be developed into another regional training center for dual education. The PIU managed the project and conducted professional supervision.
