Ovča : Works on the construction of 250 apartments in progress

The construction of 250 apartments in the Belgrade neighborhood of Ovča is underway, as part of the eighth sub-project of the Regional Housing Program.

The construction on one building has been completed, while the construction on two buildings is nearing completion. The construction of façade and partition walls on three buildings is underway, as well as the execution of electrical works.

Work on the construction of the apartment began in February this year. The planned deadline for completion of construction is March 2022. The apartments are intended for refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia.

In Ovča, 235 beneficiary families have already been provided with housing within the program. Refugee families from the former Yugoslavia moved in in March 2018.

The Regional Housing Programme is supported by the OSCE, UNHCR and the Council of Europe Development Bank, and is funded by the European Union, the largest donor, the United States, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia.

The Regional Housing Programme is a joint multi-year programme of the Republic of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Croatia, which aims to provide durable housing solutions for the most vulnerable refugee families in the region.

The program envisages assistance through the allocation of non-refundable packages of building materials, the purchase of rural households, the construction of apartments, the design and construction of prefabricated houses and the purchase of apartments.
