Contract on the continuation of the construction of the Centers of Excellence of the University of Kragujevac signed

The contract on the continuation of the construction of the Centres of Excellence of the University of Kragujevac was signed by the Director of the "Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit" Ltd. Belgrade, Dušan Kovačević and Danilo Babić on behalf of the Group of Bidders "Inobačka" d.o.o. Novi Sad, "Graditelj" Novi Sad and "Institute for Safety and Preventive Engineering" Ltd. The signing ceremony was also attended by the Mayor of Kragujevac, Nikola Dašić, the Rector of the University of Kragujevac, prof. Dr. Nenad Filipović and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Kragujevac prof. Dr. Vladimir Jakovljević.

The value of the contract is €10.5 million. The construction of the Centers of Excellence is financed from the funds of the European Investment Bank, from the funds of the City of Kragujevac in the amount of 40 million dinars and from the funds of the University in the amount of 25.5 million dinars.

The Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit will monitor the implementation of this project with an area of 11,500 m2. The construction of this unique scientific research institution will also contribute to the engagement of young scientists, so it is in the interest of the entire scientific community in the Republic of Serbia to complete the works as soon as possible and for the Centers of Excellence to start working," said the Director of the Public Sector Projects Implementation Unit Ltd. Belgrade, Dušan Kovačević.

The construction of the Centers of Excellence of the University of Kragujevac is part of the Research and Development in the Public Sector project, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development.

"We are very proud to finally continue the construction of this facility, which is of great strategic importance for our University. This center will carry out scientific research in the field of biomedical sciences, stem cells, biomedical engineering, information technologies and other areas that are being developed at our University," said the Rector of the University of Kragujevac, prof. Dr. Nenad Filipović.

The Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Kragujevac has been on the prestigious Shanghai list for the third year in a row in the field of clinical medicine, and the continuation of the construction of Centers of Excellence for this higher educational institution means the development of scientific research not only in the field of medicine, but also in other areas, said the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Kragujevac, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Jakovljević.

By building and equipping the Centers of Excellence and the Stem Cell Bank, Serbia will, for the first time, create conditions for the storage, use and research of stem cells of its citizens.

Work on the continuation of the construction of the Centers of Excellence is expected to begin at the end of September. The deadline for completion of construction is 365 days.

After the completion of the construction work, a tender will be announced for the procurement of the most modern equipment.
