Contract signed for High Performance Supercomputers
HP and PIU Research and Development signed a contract today on purchase of two super-computers in the amount of 715,000 euros for the needs of the Institute of Physics and Research Center for Bioengineering, scientific computing and software development in Kragujevac.

“ Paradox“ cluster for the Institute of Physics in Belgrade consists of 106 HP servers G8 latest generation and has a total power of 106 teraflops, while the second cluster equipped with 18 HP servers G8 total power generation of 7.3 teraflops.

Computers will, among other things, be used in the simulation flow circulation in the cardiovascular system, for faster growth forecasts atherosclerosis in specific patients, as well as in studies of fluid flow and mass transport in groundwaters, and climate change and its impact on the environment.

Director of the Institute of Physics Aleksandar Belic said that this equipment will be connected to the European network of super-computers to exchanging knowledge and experience. The equipment will be installed in two to three months.

Director of PIU Darko Djukic said that this is one of the most important equipment to be procured under the Project procurement of capital equipment and should significantly contribute to scientific results in Serbia. Djukic said that

HP Director Djurkovic said that this was a historic moment for Serbian science since these super-computers are placing Serbia on the world map of countries with high performance technologies. These two clusters will be available to all researchers throughout the scientific community in Serbia.
